L'Osmanthus Fragrans oppure Olea Fragrans, chiamato anche Osmanto Odoroso, è un arbusto perenne nativo dell'Asia ed appartenente alla famiglia delle Oleaceae. E' una pianta sempreverde da esterno a crescita lenta in grado di raggiungere importanti altezze come un vero a proprio albero;
possiede un tronco di colore bruno con rami sin dalla base sui quali si sviluppano le foglie dalla forma lanceolata oppure ovata, di generose dimensioni e di un bel verde brillante con evidenti venature con bordi irregolari. I fiori che produce sono molto profumati, come il nome suggerisce, sbocciando dalla fine dell'estate sino all'autunno: si presentano riuniti in gruppo all'estremità dei rami e son di forma tubolare con apice formato da 4 lobi assumendo colorazione giallo pallido.
E' una pianta che tollera le basse temperature, ma non le gelate, la cui posizione ideale è in luoghi soleggiati ma che si adatta anche se esposta in mezz'ombra; tollera gli ambienti salmastri pertanto la sua coltivazione può avvenire anche nelle zone costiere ed è principalmente utilizzata per la creazione di siepi o singola sia in piena terra che in contenitore.
Preferisce i terreni fertili, leggermente aciduli e ben drenati da irrigare con maggiore frequenza in estate ma solo quando il substrato si presenti completamente asciutto senza far formare ristagni.
